Family offers 20,000 hours of domestic care so that dependents of Lorquí can continue in their homes (04/05/2018)

The Minister of Family and Equality of Opportunities, Violante Tomás, signed today with the mayor of Lorquí, Joaquín Hernández, the collaboration agreement to provide home help service in the municipality, by which the Autonomous Community, through the Institute Murciano de Acción Social (IMAS), finances with 191,268 euros more than 20,000 hours of personal and domestic attention to dependents, so they can continue in their usual environment.

The agreement will be valid until March 2020.

The investment will be allocated to personal care services aimed at promoting autonomy and encouraging adequate habits and basic skills, as well as for actions at the homes of people in situations of dependency.

The Community will allocate this year 1.3 million euros to subsidize the home help service in the 11 municipalities (Jumilla, Ricote, Villanueva del Segura River, Ulea, Mula, Aledo, Albudeite, Lorquí, Blanca, Campos del Río and Molina de Segura) and the Commonwealth of the Eastern Region (Abanilla, Beniel, Fortuna and Santomera) that have requested it.

Violante Tomás explained that "the service, dependent on the Municipal Social Services, seeks professional attention to dependents in their homes and continuously monitors their situation."

The owner of Family said that "home help will create more than one hundred jobs, mainly female, in these municipalities."

In this sense, the hiring by the city councils of caregivers is encouraged to attend to the beneficiaries of the service.

The home help service offers support in personal hygiene and mobility within the home, help in the taking of medicines, timely accompaniments outside the home, collection and management of recipes or documents, help in cleaning the home, acquisition of food and other basic products on behalf of the user or preparation of meals, among others.

It is about providing the support and attention that allows the dependent person to remain in their usual environment, as well as the necessary support to family caregivers.

The service seeks professional attention and offers continuous monitoring by the municipal social services.
