The municipality begins its patron saint festivities in honor of Santiago Apóstol tonight and will last until July 25 (11/07/2018)

Among the activities highlights the importance of music with free concerts for all tastes and audiences such as 'Café Quijano' and a tribute to Spanish indie music

As every year, with the arrival of the month of July, Lorquí is preparing for one of the most anticipated events of the year: the celebration of his patron saint festivities in honor of Santiago Apóstol, which offer a complete program of activities for the second half of the month .

Period that will also last for most of the summer with the various festivities that take place in the hamlets of La Anchosa and Los Palacios.

Thus, during the entire summer season anyone can enjoy and participate in the popular festivities of this municipality of Vega Media.

The parties of Lorquí, like those of other towns of the Region, have a strong component of tradition and culture that supposes a hallmark of their people.

But they are also a unique opportunity for visitors and neighbors from other locations to join the excitement and joy of all the ilorcitanos.

These festivities get everyone involved with a program full of traditional events such as the Gala of Coronation of Queens and the Pregón, on Saturday, July 13, one of the most popular gatherings, and this year has as a preacher the musician and opera singer José Antonio López García.

However, the festivities begin on Friday the 13th at night with the Cena de Barrios tradition, in which all the residents of the municipality go out to the street to dine and share the evening enlivened by the brass bands and music.

As a novelty, this year, there will be a cycling round by the municipality on Sunday 15 in the morning, with the collaboration of the Cycling Federation of the Region of Murcia and BVicioBike.

Other fully participatory events are also the Ribbons Race and the Popular Games, on Tuesday, July 17 from 8:00 pm at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento;

the Migas Contest and the Heavy of Children, on Thursday, July 19;

and, of course, the mass and procession in honor of Santiago Apóstol, on Wednesday, July 25;

or the Great Parade of Chariots and Comparsas, on Saturday, July 21, among others.

However, despite the important weight of the tradition, the Fiestas de Lorquí have adapted to the new times, including acts with the aim of entertaining and entertaining all generations.

Thus, from the City of Lorquí, the Department of Celebrations and the Festival Commission "is committed every year to add new activities to the traditional to form a celebration for all audiences and all tastes," as highlighted during the presentation of this year's program, the mayor of the municipality, Joaquín Hernández.

For the second weekend, also highlights the musical proposal with a tribute concert to the best of Spanish indie with versions of Second, Izal, Supersubmarina, Lori Meyers, Viva Sweden and others, on Friday July 20 from 00.00 In the town hall square.

On Saturday, after the Carrozas Parade, it will be time to dance to the songs of 'Café Quijano' at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento starting at 00.00.

All concerts are completely free.

On the night of Monday, July 23 there will be a variety show with the performance of Carmen Valero, finalist of 'A tu vera', the ballet group 'Al Alba' and the humorist 'Felix El Gato' at 22.00 in the Plaza of the townhall.

For the youngest children, a musical show 'The Drilo Gang Show XV Anniversary Tour' has been organized on Monday, July 16 at 10 p.m. at the Town Hall Square.
