As every year, with the arrival of Julio, Lorquí is preparing for one of the most anticipated events: the celebration of his patron saint festival in honor of Santiago Apóstol, which offers a complete program of activities for the second half of the month.

Period that, in addition, will last until the end of August with the various festivities that take place in the hamlets of La Anchosa and Los Palacios.

Thus, during the entire summer season anyone can enjoy and participate in the popular festivities of this municipality of Vega Media.

The parties of Lorquí, like those of many other towns of the Region, have a component of tradition and culture that supposes a hallmark of its people.

But it is also a unique opportunity for visitors and neighbors from other locations to join in the festivities and the joy that the ilorcitanos spend these days.

These are celebrations that get everyone involved with a program full of traditional events, such as the coronation show of the Queens and Proclamation by Antonio Verdú Sánchez, former IES professor Romano García, on Saturday, July 13, and the great parade of floats and comparsas, on Saturday, July 20;

or fully participatory events such as popular games, on Tuesday, July 16;

the crumbs contest and heavy of children, on Thursday 18;

and the central act of the festivities with the mass and procession in honor of Santiago Apóstol, on Thursday, July 25.

But, in addition to the important weight of the tradition, the Fiestas de Lorquí have adapted to the new times, including acts with the aim of entertaining and entertaining all generations.

Thus, from the Festival Commission and the City of Lorquí, through the Department of Culture, is betting every year to add new activities to the already features to form a celebration for all audiences and all tastes, with initiatives very daring and innovative as the sports tournaments, the 'Party Videoconsoles', the water festival, on Sunday 21, and the 'I Ilorcifestival', on Saturday July 13, among others.

In addition, appointments are held as 'La Charamita', traditional parades through the village enlivened with a charanga, on Thursday July 18 from 01.30 hours, the cycling tour, Sunday July 14, and the day dedicated to the child, with various activities from morning to night, to be held on Monday 15.

Much Music and Dance

In the program of festivities of this year highlights, as in previous editions, the special dedication to music, with concerts and performances almost every day and for all tastes, ranging from the most traditional as the concert in honor of Santiago Apostle on the part of the Band of the Friends of Music Association of Lorquí, on Friday, July 19, an unmissable event for all the ilorcitanos;

or the evening of majors with the performance of the lyrical company 'Amigos de la Zarzuela' of Abarán, on Wednesday, July 17.

Other more innovative proposals such as the celebration of the 'I Ilorcifestival', the flamenco show 'Lo que siento', on Monday 22nd July, or the variety show 'De Lorquí al Cielo', with humor, dance and copla, on Wednesday July 24

There are also proposals for music of all times with the concert tribute to Mecano by the group 'El Baco a Venus', on Friday 19 at 00.00, and the great concert of the Latin singer Carlos Baute, on Saturday, July 20, at 00.00 in the Parque de la Constitución and with free admission.

Of course, there are also several dance festivals of local schools: The dance festival of the school of Amalia Abenza, on Sunday the 14th;

the academy festival of Lola Sánchez, on Wednesday, July 17;

and that of the Sannay dance academy, on Sunday 21.

The festivities will begin on Friday, July 12, with the traditional dinner of neighborhoods in which all the neighbors go out to the street to share the gastronomic evening with charangas.

The mayor of Lorquí, Joaquín Hernández, wanted to highlight that the patron saint festivities are "the best showcase to show what we are and what we treasure, both materially and immaterially, among orchards, heads, ferris wheels, chimneys and cave houses. treasure that, from the Town Hall, we commit ourselves to continue maintaining, building and spreading ".

In addition, he has encouraged everyone "to open the doors" of their homes to receive with the welcoming character of the people of this land all those who visit us these days.

For its part, the celebrations councilor, María Dolores García, wanted to put the emphasis on participation, since the program and the events are prepared with care for the involvement and contribution of all.

He also invited "all the neighbors of the Region to share these days with us in the interesting appointments that this year's program includes".
