The mayor begs the residents for voluntary confinement due to the significant increase in COVID positives in the municipality (26/08/2020)

| The Health Center is in code red and only cares for coronavirus cases | The City Council will take measures such as street disinfection and the closure of sports facilities and parks The mayor of Lorquí, Joaquín Hernández, this morning asked the residents of the municipality to carry out a voluntary confinement, with the strictly necessary exits, given the alarming increase in COVID positives in the last hours.

Thus, if last Friday, August 21, 5 cases were reported, as of August 26 there are a total of 29 people infected, 64 pending PCR and 91 direct contacts in follow-up.

"The situation is worrying and it may be that in the coming days, if the numbers continue to grow, more drastic measures will have to be taken." In this sense, and with the aim of curbing infections, it has insisted on the need to respect the restrictions approved by the Ministry of Health and the Autonomous Community and has even advanced a little more by begging people over 65 not to go out from their homes in the next few days and to the rest of the population to do so only when strictly necessary. Likewise, he has advanced that, after declaring the Lorquí Health Center in the red code, in the next few days it will have a meeting with the general direction of Public Health and Health Care to assess the situation and adopt the appropriate guidelines and measures to stop the escalation of contagions.

At the municipal level, all the streets of the municipality will be disinfected and sports facilities and parks will be closed. After the meeting of the COVID monitoring committee in Lorquí, the coordinator of the Health Center, Encarna Nicolás, has assured that "we are facing the most critical and complicated moment of the pandemic in the municipality", so it is essential that they "comply the recommendations, because in this way the transmission capacity is much lower ", and is that" 15 minutes less than a meter and a half from a person with COVID is more than enough to infect us.

" As for the people who have tested positive or are in quarantine, she reminded them that by their recklessness they are putting family, friends and the population of the entire municipality at risk. For her part, the COVID head of nursing, Carmen Nicolás, has underlined the importance of infected or quarantined people complying with confinement scrupulously, also in their homes because infections are being registered between members of the same family and cohabitants.

In addition, it has indicated that they are doing face-to-face and telephone follow-up with these people and that in the absence of a repeated response, the Police are notified so that they can appear at home. Thus, the local police chief deputy inspector, Eduardo Rodríguez, has insisted that they will be very forceful with infractions and disobedience, "there will be no more notices for those who do not wear a mask", and that scrupulous control will be made of the quarantines as well as total surveillance of the meetings both in public and private places to verify that the norms approved by the Autonomous Community are respected. From Civil Protection they have asked "respect for the measures for the good of the people because we can look worse." "There are young people who do it well, but for whom I do not ask for responsibility and seriousness," commented the coordinator, Paqui Vidal.

In addition, she recalled that the Civil Protection telephone is available to attend to people in isolation and to bring them their purchases or medicines so that they do not leave home. Finally, the mayor has stated that there are three people from Lorquí admitted to Morales Meseguer and that they are young people, for which he has requested the collaboration, involvement and responsibility of the entire population or more dramatic measures will be necessary.
