Lorquí counts on 2 sheltered homes for the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities (13/01/2017)

The mayor of Lorquí has ​​highlighted the real inclusion in the social and cultural life of the municipality

The mayor of Lorquí, Joaquín Hernández, the Councilor for Family and Equality, Violante Tomás, and the president of the Alternative Family Alfa Association, María Ángeles Gomariz, made this morning a visit to one of the sheltered homes for people with intellectual disabilities who Manages the municipality to know the activities and routines that they perform in their day to day.

During the meeting, Tomás stressed that the Ministry will fund this year the 35 places the association has in five homes 2 in Lorquí, with a total of 15 people, and 3 in Ceutí, for 429,000 euros.

"Protected homes for people with intellectual disabilities allow a degree of independence sufficient, but not total, with a follow-up and support by the team of professionals of this service, which allows them to achieve full social integration."

For his part, Hernandez, has emphasized the complete inclusion in the town and in the social and cultural activity of the same since they participate in a completely active.

He also insisted on the need to speak of inclusion, referring to a favorable environment for them to develop in equality, overcoming the concept of integration, without the need for personal efforts.

This type of initiatives and programs allow people who want it and are prepared to share a flat, but are not fully autonomous, can see their goal met with the necessary external support to strengthen and sharpen their personal skills, so necessary for a Real and effective normalization in the social and labor life of anyone.

Meeting at the City Hall
