The apprehended tobacco has a value higher than 200,000 euros
Arrested the person dedicated to the reception, handling, packaging and distribution of contraband tobacco
The Tax Agency and the Civil Guard apprehended on December 12, 2017, in a warehouse in Lorquí, Murcia, 1,200 kilograms of contraband snuff, whose value in the illicit market exceeded 200,000 euros.
The operation, called 'Tanzania', starts when officials of Customs Surveillance of the Tax Agency in Murcia and agents of the Civil Guard of Murcia detect suspicious activities in a leased ship in the Industrial Base 2000, of the town of Lorquí.
The inquiries and the surveillance carried out by the officials allowed them to surprise a transport vehicle at the moment when they unloaded 1,000 kilos of tobacco stings into the warehouse, hidden in boxes of 200 kilos each.
Officials of the Civil Guard and Customs Surveillance surprised the industrial ship a young man of Spanish nationality, who received the departure of snuff and who was manipulating another 200 kilograms to send to consumers, proceeding to his arrest for the alleged commission of a crime of smuggling of tobacco products and for the alleged commission of an offense against public finances.
In the interior of the industrial warehouse were, in addition to the work of the tobacco that had just received, tobacco in the process of handling and packaging and bags prepared to refer to consumers.
The total of the tobacco threw a total weight of 1.200 kilograms, whose price in the illicit market of the tobacco would surpass the 200.00 euros.
In the same facilities were scales, machines to moisten the tobacco and bags to pack the sting, machinery and utensils that were apprehended along with the tobacco.
The tobacco and all the seized material has been made available to the court of first instance and instruction, acting as guard, of Molina de Segura.
The detainee has also been brought to justice for the alleged commission of a crime of tobacco smuggling and a crime against public finances.
The boxes and packaging found inside the industrial warehouse and the procedures carried out by the transport company have shown that in very recent dates another 1,200 kilograms of contraband tobacco stings had been received, handled and distributed.
