The students of IES "Romano García" Lorquí working for equality (22/11/2010)

The Department of Social Policy Lorquí continues with the activities to be prepared, in collaboration with the local Equality Center to commemorate the town the "International Day Against Violence Against Women" which, as is tradition is celebrated on 25 November.

Thus, between Monday 22 and Friday 26 November is being developed in the IES "Romano Garcia" of the municipality a campaign, entitled "At the meeting, and equality", is aimed at groups of 2 °, 3 and 4 of High School with a total of 11 sessions.

In these talks the monitors are working and raising awareness among students ilorcitanos on gender equality, with the objective of promoting equal opportunities for men and women and ensure the eradication of violence and contribute to the full development of each person removing any sexist discrimination.

And last Thursday, November 18 ended a course, entitled "Women in Red", had started on Tuesday 9 in the town and celebrated in the evening.

Aimed at foreign women and Spanish and with the collaboration of the Regional Association of intercultural mediators and the Directorate General of Women, this proposal was a total of eight hours of teaching and developed at the Center for Equal situated at the Atocha locality.

More events

In this thematic line, on Wednesday 24 November will conduct a class action whose aim will be to impose white ribbons, a symbol of rejection of all forms of violence against women.

This activity is also distributed information cards and summon the residents of the municipality to participate in the traditional concentration to be held in the Town Hall Square on Thursday 25 November (12 hours), which shall be reading a manifest.

Finally, on Saturday, November 27 (20:30 pm) will be a commemorative event at the Cultural Center "Enrique Tierno Galván", which, among other authorities, will speak the local mayor, Dolores Garcia Villa.

In addition, groups (infant, child and adult) from "Theatre Workshop for Equality" will offer a taste of what they have learned in this initiative that began in mid-September and ending on December 1.
