The Town Hall of Lorquí, next to the Segura Hydrographic Confederation, the City Council of Ceutí, ANSE and the Association of Friends of the Caves and the Heritage of Lorquí, have been working on a project for the environmental recovery of the river bank, at its I pass through the municipality, taking advantage of the first phase of cleaning and elimination of the plant mass that CHS is doing in the margins.
This measure will avoid, among other consequences, the risks of overflow and the proliferation of mosquito pests in the area.
In the first meeting held last week, the foundations for future actions in the short and medium term were established among all the parties.
Thus, after the clearing a tree plantation will be carried out, after the Christmas holidays, to reforest the area and in another area a pilot project will be launched that covers the land with a plastic sheet that in a year eliminates the roots of the plants.
"We want to take advantage of the cleaning that has been done since a few months to start designing a comprehensive and lasting plan to prevent the growth of reeds on the river bank and also give life to this and value the area," as has highlighted the mayor of the municipality, Joaquín Hernández.
Likewise, within the strategies to be followed, work will be done to jointly propose and opt for European funding for the recovery of the river and its surroundings.
Agreement that will be closed with the signing of an agreement next Friday, December 14.
