The Department of Culture organizes, for the fifth year in a row, the Ancient Music Festival of Lorquí, a cultural proposal that aims to highlight the historical and cultural heritage of the municipality.

The place of celebration is the Church of Santiago Apóstol of the town, dating from the eighteenth century and has three pieces by the sculptor Francisco Salzillo.

This is presented as the perfect setting for the staging of different groups that will give a musical tour through different stages of ancient music.

The opening concert comes from the hand of `DeMusica Ensemble 'on Saturday March 16 at 8:30 p.m.

This female vocal group has participated in several editions of the festival since 2015. Their white voices will put on stage a program dedicated to medieval creative women, writers and composers.

Saturday 23 will be the turn of `Tañer Fantasía 'a group from Cáceres, formed by four musicians in 2017 and who plays old music with instruments of the time.

The quartet aims to rescue the purest sound of the Baroque period and this time they will tour the music of southern Europe during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, highlighting mainly the role of Spanish and Italian musicians.

The closing concert will be offered by `Lux Fundació' on Saturday, March 30.

This group is a project born of a passion for ancient music and the motivation to bring it to all audiences.

`Lux Fundació 'stands out for the variation of the group's components depending on the concert they offer, with the intention of being able to present from an orchestral concert to a recital for only one of its components.

The project will transport the listener to the golden Europe of the 17th and 18th centuries.

In the words of the Councilor for Culture: "This festival has the support of the residents of the town, cultural activities are well received and having the opportunity to enjoy a musical festival within our church gives a distinctive and different touch to the rest of the cultural offer during the year We have the experience of four consecutive years organizing it together with the groups that participate and the Parish ".
