The City Council of Lorquí participates in the II Day Child Friendly Cities, where it was proposed to create a Municipal Childhood Plan and promote child and adolescent participation at the local level.
The event, held in Alcantarilla, was organized together with the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia and Unicef ​​Murcia Region Committee, with the support of the Autonomous Community.
Joaquín Hernández, who was attending as president of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia this time, pointed out the importance of giving voice to children and adolescents who are part of the Participation Councils in their different municipalities and who are doing a crucial job to make their needs visible within their surroundings, their towns and cities.
He also wanted to vindicate the role of city councils to put children on the municipal political agenda by having the youngest participate in their closest surroundings by promoting active citizenship.
In addition, Lorquí will renew its seal as one of the Child Friendly Cities in the next year, a distinction that has been in place since 2016 and that endorses the work done by the City Council in favor of the rights of children and adolescents.
Joaquín Buendía, Mayor of Alcantarilla, also took part in the opening of the day;
Amparo Marzal, president of Unicef ​​Murcia Committee;
and Raúl Nortes, general director of Family and Child Protection of the Autonomous Community.
Likewise, it was possible to enjoy different presentations where technicians and experts in good practices took part who encouraged the municipalities that are not yet participating in the Child Friendly Cities network to be part of this initiative.
