The City Council of Lorquí celebrates, as every year, International Women's Day recognizing the work of women in the municipality in different areas.
Thus, last Friday, March 6, the March 8 Awards were given to 22 women hairdressers for the role that their work has had in the town and for the work they have played at the head of their own businesses.
Likewise, the award was extended, at the regional level, to the director of the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, Virginia Martínez Fernández, for her impeccable career and work, being a reference not only for our municipality, but at the regional level .
In the act;
which was held in the Auditorium 'Enrique Tierno Galván' and was chaired by the mayor of Lorquí, Joaquín Hernández, by the spokesman in the Town Hall of the Popular Party, Antonio Abenza, and the president of the Association of Active Women of Lorquí, Carmen Highlander;
the winners picked up their award.
The Councilor for Equality, María Victoria Martínez, was responsible for opening the event.
"We recognize its role and celebrate its achievements, because it is neither easy nor simple to get ahead of the difficulties and problems that have made your people proud. Hairdresser is synonymous with art, creativity, effort, determination, understanding, entrepreneurship and patience, "said the first mayor in his words.
In addition, he referred to the situation of women in society, highlighting: "We cannot forget that many goals have already been achieved, that many battles have been won. But we must continue fighting for a society based on equality, where the parity of opportunities be independent of sex.This entails a work of sensitization and awareness of all citizens that we must implement, and we must do so from childhood and youth as a basis to instill values ​​that eradicate sexist behaviors in our society at present and for a better future".
During the event the evening was livened up with the performance of the singer Consuelo Garres Carbonell, who put the finishing touch to this emotional recognition.
