The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with the Lorquí Local Police, has detained three individuals, while loading a trailer with marijuana in an industrial warehouse in Lorquí, and a fourth that, supposedly, facilitated access to the warehouse All of them as alleged members of a criminal organization dedicated to international drug trafficking.
The Benemérita has seized 220 kilos of marijuana buds, vacuum packed and ready for distribution, as well as a tractor unit, a refrigerated trailer, a van and a passenger car.
The action began thanks to citizen collaboration when the Civil Guard was alerted to a suspected robbery inside an industrial warehouse located in the Lorquí municipal district that was closed, where the movement of people inside was heard.
Immediately, Civil Guard Citizen Security patrols, together with members of the Lorquí Local Police, went to the scene to establish a police device aimed at cordoning off the area and verifying the possible commission of a robbery.
The agents accessed the ship where they found three people while they were handling abundant translucent bags of what appeared to be marijuana, for which they were arrested red-handed as alleged perpetrators of the drug trafficking crime.
In the premises there was an articulated truck full of lettuce boxes that, after being examined, allowed the discovery of more than 200 bags of marijuana, which after weighing, dropped a total of 220 kilos.
The investigation continued to locate and arrest a fourth person who allegedly had facilitated access to the compound where the drug load was intended to materialize.
The operation has culminated in the arrest of four men, of Spanish nationality, aged between 32 and 49 years, residents of Ceutí, Abarán, Molina de Segura and Sangonera la Seca-Murcia, as well as the seizure of 220 kilos of marijuana, a tractor unit, a refrigerator trailer, a van and a passenger car.
According to the investigation, it is a criminal organization dedicated to international drug trafficking that had selected an industrial warehouse in Lorquí to carry the load of marijuana to the United Kingdom.
To hide the substances, they used a shipment of lettuces among which they hid perfectly packed vacuum-packed, labeled and ready for distribution marijuana, doing it randomly to make it more difficult to detect in case the trailer was subjected to revision during trip.
The detainees, the drug seized, the vehicles seized and the proceedings investigated have been placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court number 2 of Molina de Segura (Murcia), whose owner has ordered the entry into prison of three of those arrested.
The investigation remains open.
Second hit to drug trafficking by road so far this month
The Civil Guard has dismantled, so far this month, two criminal organizations dedicated to the international traffic of marijuana by road.
The latest arrests, which occurred on the RM-15 motorway, which connects Murcia with Caravaca de la Cruz, resulted in the seizure of more than 70 kilos of marijuana buds to the Netherlands.
