| The number of positives amounts to 58 people and almost a hundred contacts are being followed up | The mayor of Lorquí, Joaquín Hernández, has requested this morning to the General Directorate of Public Health and the Ministry of Education to delay the start of the school year given the alarming increase in COVID positives in the last hours and the strong incidence of the virus in the municipality.
"We are talking about a community transmission in which it is difficult to identify the outbreaks and follow the contacts, as I have been informed by the Health Center.
In recent hours the incidence has grown considerably and we believe that it is not prudent to open the schools while infections continue to rise.
Therefore, we ask for a delay of 14 days while waiting to lower the curve and thus guarantee a safe return to school ", as he assured this morning after the meeting with the COVID committee in the municipality . In addition to this measure, the first mayor has insisted on the need for voluntary self-confinement, compliance with hygiene and safety measures and, above all, obedience and compliance with quarantines and the isolation of those people who are positive and the close contacts of the same.
"The quarantines are not being observed and this is causing us to find ourselves in a serious situation with 58 confirmed cases and almost a hundred close contacts under follow-up." To facilitate this situation in some homes, Hernández has commented that those people or households that have economic or labor problems to comply with the isolation should contact the City Council by telephone because "we are not going to leave any family alone in this." For her part, the coordinator of the Health Center has expressed her concern at the extremely serious situation suffered by the municipality and has asked for everyone's collaboration in difficult times.
In this sense, she highlighted that there are young people with serious symptoms in the ICU and that there is a high rate of pneumonia. "It is essential that relationships and social activity be limited in the event of any symptoms of coughing, chilling or being ill.
At that very moment, preventive self-isolation must be initiated and contact the Health Center.
If the PCR is positive, it is necessary to extend that confinement to all close contacts.
" The COVID head of nursing has called for understanding with the situation of the Health Center, which has only 3 doctors and 6 nurses to attend an average of 52 CPR daily and more than 190 people under follow-up.
Likewise, she stressed that health personnel are keeping agendas of 48 people a day, because emergencies and emergencies continue to be attended to, although the daily consultations are not passed because the center is at red level.
"We are putting our health and that of our families at risk but we have a commitment to the citizens that we are fulfilling, what we are not going to tolerate are disrespect and coercion because we are doing days of up to more than ten hours in the center and later continue in our homes ". In this sense, the mayor asked Public Health this week to reinforce the Health Center with two trackers and more doctors. The Deputy Chief Inspector of Local Police, Eduardo Rodríguez, has insisted that he is going to go from preventive and collaborative work to repression and forcefulness.
"We are not going to consent to misdemeanors and infractions.
We are going to control quarantines and social gatherings and we are not going to hesitate to process the complaints that are necessary." Finally, from Civil Protection, they have recalled the importance of joining forces to get out of this situation, "because it is essential that each one fulfills his responsibility," said Paqui Vidal. The City Council is thus waiting for the decision of the Autonomous Community for the beginning of the course next Monday.
