More than 20 hours of photography, taken in the summer of 2019, in which these great sculptures revealed details and secrets still unknown, even for those who know them very closely, "as its curator, Emilio Marco Gomariz, presented the exhibition.
Joaqu n Zamora, who has been in charge of photographing the artist's sculptures in the Murcian capital for the last 10 years, has been working with the three pieces by Salzillo that houses the Parroquia de Santiago Ap stol: San Jos and the Child Jesus, the Sorrowful Virgin and Our Father Jesus Nazareno in order to create a catalog with never-seen photographs, scenes and details of these works.
The exhibition, which opens today as a result of the collaboration between the Lorqu City Council, the Cabildo de Cofrad as de la Parroquia de Santiago Ap stol, and the Salzillo Museum, is a summary of some of the best snapshots .
"Sometimes the camera picks up details that the eye can't see." With this phrase he defines his work in Lorqu one of the most important photographers of the Murcian scene and closely linked to the work of the master sculptor Francisco Salzillo.
The Lorqu City Council, through the Department of Culture, has promoted this initiative with the aim of having a sample collection that will "become a collector's item" of Salzillo's work in Lorqu and that serve to continue promoting and claiming the value of the artistic and religious heritage of the municipality.
"In recent years we have managed to link the name of Salzillo to Lorqu in the Region of Murcia and now we want that relationship to be recognized nationally as well," as highlighted by the mayor, Joaqu n Hern ndez, during the presentation.
Thus, he has advanced that this will be one of the various actions and projects that will be undertaken in 2020 for the cultural and tourist promotion of the municipality in what he has called 'The year of Salzillo'.
Hern ndez thanked Zamora for the delicacy, professionalism and dedication with which he has portrayed the three pieces, providing a collection of some 300 photographs that "are authentic works of art." The host and president of the Executive Committee of the Salzillo Museum, Emilio Llamas, highlighted the twinning achieved between the institution and the municipality that has allowed to bring part of the cultural wealth of the town to the Museum by doing so and contributing to do of Lorqu a 'City of Salzillo'.
For his part, the photographer has recognized that it has been a real pleasure to work in Lorqu and to be so close and photograph works of the quality of the three parts of the municipality, ensuring that he has been surprised by their exceptional nature.
In addition, he stressed that it has been a novelty to be able to experiment with natural light, in addition to artificial light, since they have taken advantage of the one that entered the Parish at certain times of the day and has confessed that they could also be removed the images to the door to work in direct light.
The director of the Salzillo Museum, Mar a Teresa Mar n, has indicated that this exhibition summarizes the collaborations between the City Council, the Cabildo and the Museum that have allowed the three works to stay "in our house." In addition, he recalled that the exhibition can be visited until February and that all security measures are guaranteed for visitors.
The catalog will be presented on the occasion of the next Easter 2021 within the program of cultural activities that the City Council develops on these dates.
