Lorquí City Council approved last June 29 the establishment of the Council of Children and Youth Participation.
This event is the culmination of a long process to encourage citizen participation of the youngest in all matters affecting them and to ensure compliance with the Rights of Children.
This initiative is part of the application process seal recognition Friendly Cities for Children, UNICEF.
The event was attended by the Mayor, Joaquin Hernandez;
councilors Social Policy and Citizenship, Carmen Baños and Jesus Abenza;
the regional representatives of UNICEF, and Fuensanta Galvañ Carolina Vivancos;
and children and adolescents who, in recent months, have been elected by their peers to represent the youth of Lorquí in all those organs of citizen participation that currently exist in the municipality.

For his part, the President, Laura Ruiz Rodriguez, as spokesman for the 15 representatives and more than 30 employees of the Group Participation of children and adolescents stressed that "we have decided to participate because we think it is very important to know first hand what our problems, our needs and our proposals, because nobody better than children to express what other kids want or need "
