The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports will build a new school dining room at the Maestro Jesús Laborda school in Lorquí, in which a total of 179,334 euros will be invested.
The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Adela Martínez-Cachá, explained that "the regional government continues to work to endow the centers with improvements in infrastructure and services."
Thus, he noted that "there are already a total of 211 public centers that have a school canteen in the Region of Murcia and the goal is to continue progressively increasing centers that include this service."
Thus, the new infrastructure will have a total of 193 square meters and will be built on the ground floor separate from the buildings that the school has.
This construction will incorporate different dependencies such as the dining area, toilets, staff's clothing, pantry and warehouse cleaning products, among others.
The deadline for submission of bids by companies is Monday, June 5.
School Lunch Quality Plan
Martinez-Cachá said that "the new dining room will be incorporated into the School Lunch Quality Plan, which includes healthy menus, training for families and educational activities on eating habits for students."
The School Lunch Quality Plan applies to a total of 284 centers in the Region.
In total, 211 dining rooms belonging to public centers and 73 dining rooms of concerted schools have been adhered to.
Includes training and evaluation actions by students, teachers and parents.
Researchers from the University of Murcia visit the centers to review the menus monthly and report all nutritional aspects.
Likewise, it incorporates specific measures that improve the service offered, both in matters of food and hygiene habits, as well as in the consideration of the school dining room as an educational space and school health that allows to program objectives, to develop contents and to promote attitudes of Education for health.
