On the occasion of the Day of Museums, which is celebrated today May 18, the Salzillo Museum of Murcia welcomes for the first time and incorporates in an extraordinary way to its sample and catalog the sculpture of Saint Joseph and the Child from the Parish of Santiago Apóstol Of Lorquí.
The piece is part of the salzillesque set of three sculptures, together with the Virgin Dolorosa and Our Father Jesus Nazareno, the only one preserved by the author in the Region, who, due to their exceptionality, deserved the declaration of Cultural Interest in 2011 and by the That the municipality was integrated in the so-called 'Cities of Salzillo'.
The event took place in the Sketches Room of the Museum, where the work will remain for its visit from May 18 to December 10, and was presided over by the president of the Executive Commission of the Salzillo Museum, Antonio Gómez Fayrén;

The work was guarded during the Civil War in the former Provincial Museum, present Museum of Fine Arts of Murcia, and the sculptural ensemble was magnificently restored in the Historical Heritage Institute of Madrid.
