The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Adela Martínez-Cachá, visited today the works of the dining room of the Jesús García de Lorquí School, which have already been completed.
A service that can benefit a hundred children of Primary and Primary Education who are enrolled in the center.
Martínez-Cachá stressed that "this school year we are launching six new school canteens in public schools, so that this service is already in 223 centers in the Region."
The new incorporations are the public schools Ricardo Campillo de Santomera, El Mirador de San Javier and Hellín Laheras de Javalí Viejo (Murcia), which are already in operation.
Likewise, the canteens of the Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Consolation centers, both in Molina de Segura, and the Jesús García de Lorquí School, will be launched during this school year.
In addition, others are in the process of authorization for the next course.
More than 15,000 users use school canteen services in the Region this year, of which about 5,000 benefit completely free of charge.
This service represents an investment of 5.7 million euros.
The counselor stressed that "from the regional government we continue to incorporate new services in our centers to promote both the reconciliation of work and family life and healthy habits among our students."
The dining room has been built separately from the rest of the buildings of the school so as not to compromise its functionality and on a single ground floor to facilitate access for the little ones.
The new building has a dining room, a space for the preparation of the food service, toilets, locker room, pantry, storeroom and a zone with ventilation for the parking of garbage containers.
The works have lasted four months and have involved an investment of 126,413 euros.
The dining service will be provided by a catering company outside the school.
Once the works are completed, the process to tender the equipment and start up this service, which will start operating this same school year, is opened.
In the new dining room will also implement the Quality Plan for school canteens that establishes a set of recommendations to improve the quality, both in food and hygiene habits, and when to influence the importance of the dining room as an educational space that allows to program objectives, develop content and promote attitudes related to health education.
