The image of the reclining Christ of the Forgiveness, from the sculptor Concepción Cuesta, is the protagonist of the poster of the Holy Week of Lorquí 2018 that was presented last week at the Salzillo Museum in the capital.
The snapshot, which captures a moment of the 'Santo Desenclavamiento' that takes place on Good Friday in the Plaza de la Libertad, is the winner of the second edition of the photography contest and its author is Andrés Gadea.
The presentation ceremony was chaired by the president of the Brotherhood of our Father Jesus and president of the Executive Committee of the Salzillo Museum, Antonio Gómez Fayrén, the director of the Salzillo Museum, María Teresa Marín, the mayor of Lorquí, Joaquín Hernández, the director General of Cultural Assets, Juan Antonio Lorca, the Parish Priest of Santiago Apóstol de Lorquí, Felipe Tomás, and the president of the Brotherhood of the Christ of Forgiveness, Jesús Rocamora.
The Holy Week of Lorquí manages to transcend the religious and spiritual importance that this event has, since it has a great artistic, cultural and historical value that is revealed in some appointments that are unique in the Region and with the pieces of the emblematic sculptor Francisco Salzillo.
Pieces, some of them, that have been admired in the Salzillo Museum by hundreds of visitors last year, thanks to the collaboration and almost twinning between the Museum, the Brotherhood of Nuestro Padre Jesús and the town.
Over a little over a week, exceptional events with centuries of history come together in the town.
Like the 'Santo Desenclavamiento', from which it takes a moment the poster of Holy Week of 2018, and that taking place on Good Friday, recalls a tradition of the seventeenth century in which an articulated Christ is made to descend from the cross, while the Music Band of the Friends of Music Association of Lorquí performs a piece composed for this event by an ilorcitano: Cristian Marco.
A unique moment with an important emotional charge that marks the beginning of the Procession of the Holy Burial.
"Our commitment, from the City Council, and my staff, is to continue and maintain the important and necessary work of dissemination and promotion that has been carried out during the last years, and that had its maximum expression, now almost a year ago, with the presentation of the poster of the Nazareno de Lorquí in this same place in 2017, with the exhibition of San José and El Niño in this museum and the visit of the Nazarene to this church to participate in the 'Magna Procesión' ", as highlighted by the first edil.
The Holy Samana of Lorquí is lived from the Palm Sunday, with the representation of the Living Passion, that takes to the town visitors of all parts;
until Sunday of Resurrection and the Procession of the Risen One, through the blessing of Christ articulated on Holy Thursday, to refer only to some of the best moments.
"Thus, we understand that Lorquí has a lot to offer and teach to the rest of the Region and it also has great tourist potential, and we are aware of the effort that must be done to show our wealth and heritage and attract visitors. Holy Week of Lorquí beyond our borders, "said Hernández.
