Lorquí City Council will launch in the near future a course in stained glass, whose aim is to highlight regional and crafts which will seek to introduce students to the knowledge of different types and characteristics of glass, as well as in developing templates and molds for creation of the lamps "Tiffanys".
This is made possible by a grant of nearly 3,400 euros from the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Regional Government, included in the aid of the "Territorial Plan for Rural Development" local action group "Association for Integrated Rural Development municipalities Vega del Segura - Focus Leader. "
In addition, the local council will provide, by resolution of the Board of Governors, the VAT amount for the project.
Thus, the participants, which need not have experience in this field exhaustively-known painting of windows and conveniently learn the technique famous "Tiffany" (to create works such as lamps, vases, ornaments ....)
The course will have three sections: the first is a simple flat piece to learn the basic techniques of work, the second will be a lamp using the above techniques, and the third will break a piece of those made for restore.
Emphasis will be on cutting glass and in the preparation of parts before the soldier and to teach the processes of cleaning and patina of the finished part.
The technique "Tiffany"
The glass art, stained glass or stained glass also called, can be art, craft, or both at once, because it requires an artistic skill to design it, as well as specific expertise to carry it out.
Traditionally used for the production of windows, but now, especially since the creation of the art "Tiffany", the possibilities for different types of objects have multiplied.
"Craft production contributes to strengthening the territorial identity as it has resulted in the recovery of lost jobs, many of them linked to the environment," the local mayor, Dolores Garcia Villa.
