Last March, a total of 75 students of 3rd Secondary Education in the IES "Romano García" Lorquí participated in the course of "Affective-Sexual Education" organized by the local Department of Social Policy, through its Center Social Services-in the schools themselves.
This initiative, developed in the municipality for more than 11 years, is a way to ensure through collaboration with educational institutions, which is now a recognized need for prevention against problems such as diseases STIs and unwanted pregnancy in adolescence.
Thus, over 5 sessions led by psychologists addressed the different dimensions of human sexuality from the point of view of biology, thinking and behavior, all related to the affective dimension of the individual.
This year, also has placed more emphasis on knowing what is and what are the changes that accompany adolescence to young people themselves understand that it is a stage with a potentially risky behaviors to their health.
Values ​​Education
In addition, this center has also hosted the course "Values ​​Education" which aimed at students of 1 ESO, is part of the "Municipal Plan for the Prevention of Drug Addiction" dependent on the Department of Social Policy and realized through Social Services Centre of the municipality.
The proposal was given to about 90 students and has received six sessions, four of them given by a psychologist who has focused his work on such important values ​​for living together as respect, solidarity, friendship, trust ...
All values ​​aimed at both creating a positive classroom climate, and the acquisition of social skills, to enable our young people be better prepared in their social competence.
In addition, we have included two more sessions, taught by tutors who have contributed to young students, who have received these activities with great acceptance, general information for the prevention of consumption of snuff and alcohol.
