On Sunday October 14th I saw the Village People Lorquí League.
The race, a total of 5572 meters, was very popular in its first edition with a participation of around 150 runners from various municipalities and as many assistants.
The start of the league was the Constitution Park, from there the runners through the streets of Lorquí through the Los Rosales, Station Road and St. James Parish to return to the park and cross the finish line.
The first to do so was Jose Carlos Montesinos Belmonte, with a mark of 18:58 and participated in the Veteran category A Male.
He was the first to cross the tape and inaugurate the podium of this I Legua Popular.
As for local runners, the first to arrive was the Senior Male participant Paulo Mendes and Julio Pereira, in category Senior Women, Carmen Martinez, with marks of 20:21 and 29:47 respectively.
During the trophy is awarded in addition to the fastest runners in each category, the most numerous clubs that participated.
The Lorquí Veterans Association took the award with seventeen participants, followed by Correbirras six.
All runners received a T-shirt in memory of this League and I counted, at all times, with medical aid in case of need.
