The exporter of fruits and vegetables GRUVENTA, based in Lorquí (Murcia), has claimed that it is `` essential'' priority and encourage the development of broccoli in the center and north of the European Union.
This culture is ceasing to be unknown to European citizens and is a favorite for its great health benefits.
According to data provided by the Statistical Service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, broccoli is the vegetable currently occupying the second largest acreage at the regional level, following the lettuce, and the third agricultural product, after the lettuce and lemon.
Agricultural land in broccoli grown in the Murcia countryside has multiplied by 12 in the 33 years since 1980, and has grown from 878 acres to the 10,781, of which 7,516 are located in the Valley of Guadalentín.
The Director General of GRUVENTA, Fermín Sánchez Navarro, "This growth is due to a product that is in high demand internationally, and because of its anti cancer, has had a huge acceptance by consumers."
"The big challenge has always had this vegetable is advocacy, both domestically and internationally, so we need to strive to get to give more visibility magnificent properties and health benefits," stated Fermín Sánchez.
RUVENTA sold over 20 fruits and vegetables, which are sold in over 33 countries worldwide, and has a sales volume of 20,000 tons.
