Lorquí City Council held on Saturday the fourteenth edition of the awards on March 8 to mark International Women's Day this time honoring the role of women in the media through the figure of four journalists.
So, for the first time this event the rest of the region and two neighboring municipality Villa María Ángeles and María Dolores García opened two shared the stage with renowned professionals Pity Alarcón Alarcón and José María.
"We can not forget that through the media have spread news of opinion and thought currents that have been instrumental in the development and evolution of society. Moreover, the press has helped to change the image of women" as highlighted Lorquí Mayor Joaquin Hernandez, who wanted to thank her and her work and contribution to the four journalists.
In addition, he stressed that the awards March 8 are for all women, especially women of Lorquí, who are working away from home, in their homes and keeping families in the village, because "right now are not only the livelihood economic but also moral of many families and a cornerstone of those where there are children, elderly or dependent people. For his part, Councillor for Social Care, Amparo Martinez, stressed the importance of continuing to hold this event every year to remember what has been achieved and, above all, to reflect on the work to be done.
