connecting Mota del Rio municipality, facilitates the arrival of visitors to the town and serves entertainment area neighbors

The proximity to the natural river Segura has marked and continues to set the configuration and development of Lorquí.

In the past, their presence has represented both a strength, the wealth that supposed to farmers and industry, as a weakness for the consequences of floods and storms.

Currently, the river continues to act as a source of opportunities, but also involves a series of care and maintenance for proper use.

To protect this close relationship and seize the opportunities it offers, one of the priorities of the City Council has been promoting actions to improve urban connectivity with the river.

Thus the project for upgrading the Mota del Rio, with a budget of 39,000 euros, has as main objectives the approach of the villagers to their natural green corridor, an area of ​​significant environmental value, to develop leisure activities, and City open to walkers who regularly pass through this fluvial way.

The actions taken included cleaning the treated area, removing the metal fence that prevented the passage between Mota and Park, construction of an access ramp to the path of Mota del Rio from Constitution Park for cyclists and landscaping of the area integrating the veranda with Mota.

In addition, it has been restored and rehabilitated street lighting with colored lamps;

It has been placed street furniture, including an information panel with the street and the unique elements of the municipality and a picnic area;

and it included artistic and ornamental elements that give character to the area as artistic installation 'Poppy-Mutant'.

"Our goals were both open area of ​​the river Lorquí so that the residents enjoy this privileged enclave, as Lorquí open to visitors from the river so that our people do not go unnoticed by any passerby in the area", stressed the mayor of the municipality, Joaquin Hernandez.
