Lorquí City Council has begun construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Pio Baroja and Alhambra Avenue to the Constitution of the locality.
With an investment of 27,500 euros provided in full by the Consistory ilorcitano, this small roundabout will improve traffic management of vehicles circulating daily for this central area of town.
The works, which have been launched this week, have a maximum execution time of two months to respond to a test conducted by the local council last year.
Thus, for a few months, placed a temporary roundabout to prove its effectiveness in the distribution of road traffic, whose experience has been positive result definitely modify this particular point plan to regulate traffic in the locality.
The ongoing construction of this roundabout goes the adequacy of the adjoining sidewalks, construction of two raised zebra crossings (one at the Alhambra street and another in the very Constitution Avenue, after the roundabout towards the Llano de Molina) and the displacement of another elevated pedestrian crossing.
There were also proceed to the placement of new vertical and horizontal markings to facilitate and expedite the road traffic, while there is an increase road safety for vehicles and pedestrians at this intersection.

María José López, Councillor for Infrastructure, said that this initiative aims to "the good of the municipality, which is an improvement and a step forward in solving problems that now affect vehicular traffic and pedestrian safety."
It is worth recalling that this measure falls within the program of improvements that usually develops the Department of Infrastructure to provide the town with new construction and improve existing ones to create a more dynamic and secure.
