The autonomous region has invested in Lorquí in the past year more than 166,000 euros for works to improve municipal infrastructure, as well as the acquisition of two new motorcycles and various materials destined for the local police.
The Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte, today visited the town to turn over to the mayor of Lorquí, Dolores Garcia, the two new motorcycles and to inaugurate the renovation and improvement of various municipal infrastructure.
The acquisition of two new motorcycles has involved an investment of 13,920 euros paid by the autonomous community with the funds to improve the police force in 2008.
Similarly, and from this same heading, the City received another grant of 5,933 euros to purchase five laptop computers and other material for police work such as measuring wheels and lanterns.
Funds under the Local Cooperation Fund, the City of Lorquí has received a grant of 146,893 euros to improve and renew municipal infrastructure such as street paving Juan XXIII, Hernán Cortés, Pizarro and Acacias, another work consisted renovation and upgrading of water network in various parts of the municipality, and has acquired new equipment for the municipal engineering department consisting of a Total Station Surveying new software.
Reverte stressed that investment in both law enforcement and improvements in infrastructure renewal demonstrates the commitment and support of the regional government to the municipalities to "provide all residents of more and better services and to support the financial sustainability of municipalities a year is especially hard by the economic crisis. "
